Charity Fundraising Ideas

Dania Ahmed • 4 July 2019

Get in touch with us if you would like to represent Panah Children Charity at your University/School/Work-place/Organisation. You could set up a Student Group or introduce Panah Children Charity within an existing Societies and Groups. When organising fundraising events, please always be mindful to follow laws, health & safety regulations, get permissions and respect the venue and people around you. Be approachable and friendly!

Here is a small list of fundraising ideas I have compiled, and keep checking the blog for new ideas! You can also download a sponsorship form if you would like to collect sponsors in person. Alternatively, you can create your own fundraising page on JustGiving.

Cinema Screening ( / Games Night / Karaoke Night)

  • Pick a popular movie and hold a cinema screening;
  • or borrow games from friends and family to set up a board and video games' event
  • or find some YouTube videos for Karaoke to set up a karaoke night
You can charge an entrance fee for the above events that goes to charity. Additionally you can set up a concessions stand (or maybe incorporate a bake sale?) and raise extra money by selling popcorn, drinks and delicious snacks.

Dinner Party

An event which can be hosted all year round, on its own or in support of other events (where a percentage of profits goes to charity), a dinner party can be adapted to appeal to most people. Keep in mind the timing of your event, if you are hosting in December you could combine it with a New Years party.

Sponsors

You can organise a sponsored walk, litter pick, bike-a-thon, read-a-thon or swim-a-thon. There are endless options. You can give yourself a personal challenge, or organise a collaborative event e.g. sponsored run with a local running-club. You can even challenge yourself to give something up, such as chocolate, crisps or TV, and ask friends & family to sponsor you.

Bake Sale ( / Burger / Pancake / Hot Chocolate / Tea Sale)

From a small one-off cake stall to a fancy tea party, bake sales are easy to organise, don’t cost much to set up and are bound to be a success. Take a look at the Food Standards Agency website in advance to ensure that you follow their guidance when selling food. Please accurately label any food with any ingredients that could cause an allergic reaction. Try to provide a couple of speciality items like nut, gluten or dairy-free options for those with allergies or special diets.
Remember to take paper plates/cups, napkins , any cutlery, tongs and disposable gloves (for serving food) ,  money-box for donations and bin bags.

Car Boot Sale

Good as either an individual or team activity for raising funds for the charity. There are quite a few car boot sales, especially over the summer months. You can raise money and get rid of unwanted stuff at the same time. Bear in mind that car boot sales can be of variable success and depend an awful lot on what you have to sell. Collecting stuff to sell from all your friends and family might help increase your stock and all unsold/unwanted items can be taken to a charity shop at the end.
